Hi all,
my family and I are considering a move from Philly to Windermere and this summer we are planning a Disney vacation but coming down a day early to "check out" the neighborhoods. I would love to talk with someone who can tell me what we should look at- here is what I already have in mind, I would LOVE any feedback:
planning on driving through Summerport and Lakes of Windermere Neighborhoods- we want a family friendly and affordable area with GOOD schools. possibly looking for shopping centers to see the proximity to the communities? schools?
Should we look at other neighborhoods? If anyone knows or can maybe directly email me-please send me a private message-we really need a contact down there. Thanks

What kind of budget do you have?

If you were actually looking for a touring plan, I'd say to take 535 from Lakes of Windermere north to the Winter Garden Village (the main shopping center for this area), then take Stoneybrook Parkway Eastbound/Roberson road until you hit Maguire Rd. Take a right on Maguire to head south through old Windermere. Take a left on 6th Avenue which will eventually turn into Conroy-Windermere Rd. You've now left Windermere and are entering an area called Dr. Phillips. Take a right on Dr. Phillips Blvd until you get to Sand Lake Rd. and you can get a good look at the shopping centers and some of the neighborhoods this way.

Sorry if it's a little hard to follow! Just look at Google Maps This would just be my recommendation to get a good feel of those areas, since it's already in the vicinity you were looking in.

EXCELLENT directions. That about covers it.

Summerport is pretty nice. I think it is a better location than lakes of windermere. It is more close to shopping and highway.

As a side trip option, instead of turning on 6th st., continue on Windermere's main street until it turns into a dirt road and make a right turn (I think it's Chase Rd.) Stay on Chase thru the winding road and you'll see mansions (and a semi-castle) on both sides. When you get to Keene's Crossing you can turn around to go back to 6th ave and to Dr. Phillips, or turn right, and the next light is 535 again. If you go left there you come out behind Disney, or go right toward Summerport.

You won't get into some of those without a realtor as they are gated.
