"There are thousands upon thousands of good, hardworking people living here - I guess they're all going to move out in the next couple of years."

pianogal, this has been my experience and what i've observed: ppl moving into orlando are mostly ppl from ny/nj/puerto-rico. many of which are rude, drive aggressively, etc... the thousands upon thousands of good, hard-working folks are moving out of the state, to nc/sc/tn/ga or to n fla in search of something better. many of the natives of orlando are gone. many of them are the good, hard-working folks we would like to be here, but instead many are replaces with loud, rude, aggressive folks from elsewhere.

Just because there are no state taxes there is crime. That is totally wrong. TN has no state taxes is in one of the most beautiful places to live with a lot less crime. Cheaper to live and pays pretty good. I wouldn't say it is the taxes. Just trying to make a point.

Better education system = less dropouts (which Florida is one of the worst in the country for high school graduation rates), which = less kids/young adults on the streets being led into a life of crime.

Better public safety system = More cops on the streets to catch the career criminals that are out there and more jails to put them away in so they don't get released after a few days because of overcrowding (this revolving door sends the wrong message).

The question was about FL, not TN. You are comparing apples to oranges. A WHOLE different demographic. A WHOLE different state. But since you brought it up, it's education system sucks as well. Memphis area school district last year had a 48% graduation rate (actually worse than Orange county). Pathetic.

Then take Connecticut (One of the highest taxed states). A state with one of the lowest crime indexes and highest graduations rates. The U.S. national average for high school graduation rates is around 70%. Connecticut is 82%.

A state income tax to fund the items I said before is probably the only thing that can save FL from the being one of the highest crime states and near worst in education at this point. And it would probably do TN some good as well.

tn is beautiful = true, the eastern part of the state is. definitely.
no state taxes = true
lot less crime = false

tn is ranked higher than fla in crime. crime is analyzed on a per capita basis, and tn has more crime per capita than fla. look it up. it sounds hard to believe, but it's the truth.

Again...id have to agree with you .....I lived in both states...Tennessee has a crime issue that most people dont know about....the only difference is that people arent as rude up there and they dont drive the same way as here but other than that you can find the same kind of ghettos in each state....but in the nicer areas of town i think Florida is worse in the bigger cities
