Hy,

I recently got a job offer in Lake Mary and will be moving to Orlando in August. Aside from the occasionally Disney trip, I pretty much have no knowledge of the communites that make up the Orlando metro area. Im single and in my mid 20s and would appreciate suggestions on a nice area to move to. Thanks in advance.

Well that all depends. Do you want to be in an area like a downtown or suburban? What do you look for in a neighborhood?

I have an active lifestyle so I don't think a suburban neighborhood would fit me well. I like to go out a lot during the weekends. I like to bike, jog, ect. during the day and go to restaurants and bars during the nights. I'm basically looking for an area where there is some type of human activity. I lived in Livingston, NJ for a couple of months and they were the most dull months of my life.

The downtown area would probably be best for you. Since you would be commuting opposite of traffic the drive shouldn't be too bad to your job in Lake Mary. Specific neighborhoods to look at include College Park, Thornton Park, Colonialtown (north and south), Audubon Park, Eola Heights, Delaney Park, Downtown South, Vimi District and Baldwin Park. Outside of downtown other good areas to consider are Winter Park, Maitland, Altamonte Springs. There are some nice neighborhoods on the south side of town as well but the daily commute would be very difficult.

Altamonte seems pretty happening with that uptown development and it's close to lake mary. I don't know much about it besides driving by it a lot but it seems good from the outside

Downtown Orlando for a younger crowd with lots of good nightlife.
