Is Lake Como a section of Orlando that is primarily made up of black professionals, similar to some parts of metro Atlanta?

I ask this because houses in Lake Como are on the pricey side and Lake Como Elementary is 43% black (and 30% white).

Oddly, I don't remember seeing any black people whenever I drive through the area or past Lake Como Park. Yet the pastor of the local church, Lake Como Connexions (formerly Colonial Church of the Nazarene), is black. Pastors tend to reflect their congregations but I've never been to that church, so I don't know its demographics.

I would appreciate if someone could enlighten me about this nice-looking area of Orlando.

Hmm... not sure- never even heard of it which is weird.

I wouldnt know for sure- but I wouldnt compare it to metro ATL though. I've never seen so many successful AA people in one area like Atlanta.

I live in the Lake Como area and I don't see many blacks, although there are some. I certainly would not call the area a black area.

Regardless, the area in general that is south of the 408, north of Curry Ford, E of Orange and W of Lake Underhill is nice. Some neighborhoods are nicer than others, and there's a few sketchy blocks here and there, but overall it is a nice, safe area. It is also convenient. If you live close to 408, you are walkable to downtown from many locations. If you live closer to Curry Ford, you are still walkable to restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies, a few shops, etc.

I just checked. City Data says Lake Como has a median household income of $57,287 and is very white. IMO, there is a nice blend of races here. It does not appear to be as white to me as City Data says. The homes are older, but well kept, and there is a mix of people in general (some young, mostly families, some older couples).

As for the school... it is an A school (or was last year, not sure about this last grade), but I was NOT impressed when I visited. It is need of, well, a complete remodeling. And I was not a fan of the exposed wires and pipes hanging all over the walkway ceilings, or the fact that two gates were wide open to the street. Dover Shores (another school in the area) is slightly better overall, but not much, and Blankner is a great school. The high school and middle are good. Kaley Elementary was an F school and just pulled itself up to a B. I'd wait and see what happens there next year, though.
