Moving - Looking at Fells Cove (Orlando, Kissimmee: renting, crime, house)

Hi,

We are moving to the Orlando area (renting). My wife is in town right for work and is planning to see a house in the Fells Cove community tomorrow and we see everyone saying don't move to Kissimmee. My wife drove the community this house is in and feels it looks really nice, a rural type area. It's located right around the intersection of Boggy Creek and Narcoosee, south side of Boggy Creek, putting it in Osceola county.

We've asked some people she works with about the area and they all say they aren't familiar with that specific part of Kissimmee, but they wouldn't recommend Kissimmee to anyone. I am just trying to find someone familiar with that part of Kissimmee. They advertise it as close to Lake Nona, but I see looking from a map that it's a few miles south.

I looked at Trulia's crime map, and it's all green (no crime), but not sure how accurate it is. All the "action" seems to be taking place further west in Kissimmee.

Thoughts?

Wow, that's kind of out in the middle of no where.

That area shouldn't have too much of a crime problem, but it's pretty far out there. If you won't be working at the airport or Lake Nona, it's going to be a long commute to pretty much anywhere else.

Renting you should do OK, I wouldn't buy there. And if you've got kids, run. The schools are no good.

Sold a home in Fells Cove, seemed to be quiet and kept up nice.

Thanks. Work for my wife (which is the reason we are moving there) is about a 30 minutes from any of the areas we are looking at, including Fells Cove. We do have kids, but it looks like it's going to be a couple of years before he's allowed into Kindergarten because of the cut off date.
