I think this is the first thread of it's kind on this board so I'll answer.

Depends on where you plan on working, what you can afford, and what you want around you.

Generally speaking, you want to be in these areas according to this forum:

Lake Mary, Maitland, Winter Park, Downtown, Baldwin Park, Thornton Park(I wouldn't), Dr Phillips(I wouldn't), Windermere

Can't go wrong with the above areas. You're looking at for a nice 2br apt 850+, nice 3br house 1200+,etc etc

Don't forget Winter Springs and Oviedo. Nice areas that won't break the bank as much as Windermere.

Where will you be working? That should be your first question. Once you know where your job location will be, we can give you some ideas of areas nearby. It would also help if you gave a price range and whether you plan to buy or rent.

Seriously??? Tangelo Park doesn't belong in any "good" classification, and I'd live in Dr Phillips or Windermere before I set foot in Avalon Park, personally.

You and me both! No way would I live in Avalon Park! I'm happy in the burbs in Clermont, but if I wanted a change I'd be looking at Thornton Park. But I don't have kids in school.

Well everyone has their own opinion, my list was based off the best schools. To me, the better the school is then the better the location will be.

Schools are important but they aren't everything. Quality of life factors in schools, neighborhoods, quality and price of available housing, and crime levels. Some of the places you listed as great have higher than average crime levels and some are just run down and undesirable.

I'd rather live in a well kept neighborhood with low crime and average schools than a dump of a neighborhood with average crime and stellar schools. I can supplement my child's education, I can't keep out the crime or make my neighbors take care of their homes and yards.
