So one thing I liked to do when I got the chance to was go apple picking in the fall. Around Sept-end of Oct is apple picking season here in NY. We could drive about an hour away to the orchard and Pick apples, get a pumkin, and go on Hay Rides. One place had the giant blow up slide for the kids. Some had bands come and play. Some farms had Pick your own all year round. So my question is, do they have a Pick your own orchard for Oranges in Florida? Just wondering.

There are a few of them. One is on Route 27 on the northbound side in the southern end of Clermont a mile or two (or three, never really measured) north of 192.

There is a pick your own blueberry place on 561 headed north from Route 27 going towards Astatula.

There are pick your own strawberry and tomato places down in the area between Plant City and Ruskin.

Ooooh! Yay! I am getting excited. I will be going apple picking sometime in October (thats when you can do Pumkins as well) I know there aren't too many "fall" like activites in FL. So I am going to have to compensate somehow.

Just reverse everything. We pick in the spring. We do most outside activities (other than the beach) in the winter.

Not trying to be critical, but oranges are in a grove not orchard. Welcome to CFL, enjoy.

Start in late September or so and go through early April. Depends on the varietal you want. Peak is November through January.

Another difference is orange trees have long thorns or spikes on the branches so you can get cut up picking them too.

Since you have kids, there is a farm west of Kissimmee that you can take them to to pick a pumpkin. It has been years since my kids were in elem , but it was a field trip for them some years.

There's a place in Sorrento where you can pick strawberries, too, only the name escapes me since I've only been there once. I'm sure you could find it on Google.
