Will someone help me with this matter, I am new to Florida just wanted to know if Hillsborough county taxes are higher than osceola county taxes, I purchase house in Valrico in April 2007, taxes based on the information on the house were 4k a year this is a 2003 house, and now they are at almost 6k my friends house in St cloud brand new he will only pay 2,700 a year please someone explain to me maybe I should purchase in St cloud?

Wish I could help. All I can tell you that in this area, there are sooo many houses that are up for sale and not being sold and the people that I've talked to say people are moving and not buying because the taxes are so high, they can't afford them.

But I also heard that there's going to be some relief around the corner. I don't really know.

The reason taxes are higher when you buy a home they tax you on the amount you paid for the home.
If you bought a house in the 1990 for 80K and sold it in 07 for
200K then the person who bought the house property tax would be based on 200K.
There is suppose to be something in the works that would help homeowners. Try searching for Save our Homes, FL.
