The traffic today is just the worst, inescapable! It literally just took me 1 hour to drive from Downtown Orlando to the Hunter's Creek area, an 18 mile trip that should have taken 18 minutes (95% highway), took 42 more minutes longer than it should have!

I get that there was a big running event in downtown today at Wall Street, fine. I was leaving downtown after that began. As I approached I-4 from E South St, I could see the traffic on the overpass so I followed South St to OBT, and once I reached a red light I checked traffic on Apple Maps, it showed the congestion ran from downtown all the way to the Turnpike, 7 miles! and for what?

I headed to downtown around 3 pm to go to Gino's Pizza and I could see the westbound side of I-4 was pretty bad. So I hung around Chico's and Whiskey Dicks bar for awhile hoping the traffic would have thinned out, WRONG! So I followed OBT (see above) to Americana, then picked up John Young and the traffic there was just as bad, and I spent about 15 minutes just at John Young and Sand Lake alone! After that I could not get above 40 mph thanks to all these slow Sunday drivers

Was there some huge event happening in town this weekend that I just didnt get the memo about? Or is Orlando's traffic that bad to the point where we're like DC and have a Saturday rush hour now too?

Plus the state high school football championships for 5A, 6A, 7A, and 8A were this weekend at the Citrus Bowl.

Christmas is only a little more than a week away. Millenia area was bumper to bumper. Combined with everything else, you're gonna have traffic.

David, traffic is always really bad during the later half of December. When I leave work, I need to remember to start taking Orange Ave south from downtown instead of trying OBT or I-4. Thankfully I'm off a few more days. But yeah, welcome to the holidays.

Fish person, I forgot what it's like during the Holidays here in Orlando. As this is my first holiday season back in Orlando, my last one here was 2009. However I still do not remember it being this bad.

During the rest of this past year, I had alternative routes out of traffic, yesterday I did not. No matter what route I could have taken, I would have been caught in traffic

I don't know, I just got back from being out of town for a couple nights (felt great to get away btw) so I'm out of the loop as to what's been going on the past few days.
