We all know Orlando has a history with biker gangs (Warlocks anyone?) Other than that Orlando doesn't really have any organized well known gangs in this town. Yeah there is a lot of crime, but its not gang related. Or is it?

I worked at the Sky Lake Publix today on OBT and was talking to an Orange County Sheriff's deputy who said the Sheriff was getting ready for a huge gang war about to go down in the Oak Ridge area and that they are beefing up patrols on a big scale this coming week in the Oak Ridge/Americana areas. Apparently, Black-American, Haitian, and Puerto Rican gangs are all in a fight to control this area

Has Orlando become the next city to be featured in the next Grand Theft Auto?

Has anybody else heard about anything like this?

Apparently most of the crime is committed by career criminals versus gangs given the statement by a member of the Orange County Sheriff's Gang Unit, stating gang activity here is below the national average.

I've always thought that the Oak Ridge area was prime for gang activity and turf wars.

Most gangs in orlando are not tradutional gangs they are clicks of kids who grew up together. Thus is a good thing. I did not the gang element when I lived or visited th3 west coast. I like to wear whatever I please.

Gangs in East Orlando
I am not sure how I feel about the east side having the most gang activity. I suppose along Semoran and Goldenrod there are some pretty rough spots, especially north of Curry Ford. But the rest of the east side seems pretty quiet even though that's where most Orange County residents live

Sometimes when I read about the east side, oak ridge, and south apopka I think well maybe pine hills isn't the most dangerous part of town.

I wouldn't have thought that either but with the recent Puerto Rican influx into the Goldenrod area it makes some sense. I would imagine new gang activity takes a bit to get a handle on and squelch in terms of figuring out the who/what/wheres of involvement.

And now you've gone and posted the Sheriff's preemptive action plans & insider knowledge all over the net making it potentially rather useless.............

Good thing you thought that, and didn't claim to know like your normal know-it-all routine, because after living in the Oak Ridge area for a long time now, that certainly isn't true. Shame how people think , though it is what it is.

East Orlando is really the only gang related activity I've ever heard of anything in Orange County.

Gotta remember Oak Ridge technically isn't Orlando while some of Pine Hills is in Orlando. Neither is South Apopka. So when you say town in this sense, I assume you mean Orlando. City Limits do not include Oak Ridge and some of Pine Hills, which makes Orlando, (the city) seem a lot dangerous than it really is considering the whole area is a bunched together. Orlando feels consolidated with Orange County at times.
