Brick streets are annoying. I see that Winter Park is busy going back to brick streets. I haven't travelled extensively through Winter Park recently but I just noticed a few driving through there about 2 weeks ago. I think it's NIMBY-ism. People don't want people driving through their neighborhoods. However, don't the streets exist to serve everybody? Bricking up streets and putting up speed bumps just will divert traffic onto over-congested arterial streets.

Or how about in certain parts of town where there are speed bumps and speed tables every block or so. It is getting out of hand. Anybody try bicycling over these things? They are no fun. Oh wait, nobody thinks of cyclists in Orlando.

You can't have your cake and eat it too. Having a grid layout for a city is very beneficial for traffic, yet at the same time if you brick up alot of these streets, the benefits will be moot.
