Just a general out look is all i'm asking for! Thanks.

As with our many things, it all depends. What line of work are you and your family in? I live and work in South Florida and our economy is different from Central Florida. And South Florida tends to pay more but cost of housing is higher so that is the trade off. Central Florida is recovering but South Florida is booming in many areas because of the influx of foreign money, tourists and trade.

Central Florida is recovering in terms of jobs, but most are service economy "opportunities" with no benefits. You have to read between the lines versus just the jobless numbers. Unfortunately that's the rap for most places people visit and "fall in love" with.

The average wage in Orlando is $8-$9 an hour and most 1-2 bedroom apartments range from $800-$1200+ per month. So it's more difficult to survive here than in most cities with comparable COLs just for the fact that wages are so low compared to how much rent is.

I wouldn't recommend moving here unless you already have sone kind of good paying management job already secured and in writing before you move here.

Otherwise if I were you I would stay in south Florida. Why move from one economically depressed area to another?

At least based on 2011 numbers, Orlando seemed to do worse than many of the nearby metro areas, including Melbourne/Titusville, Tampa/St Pete, Miami and Jax

Average Orlando worker?s annual pay was $39,310 last year - Orlando Business Journal

Quote:
The average annual salary for Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford workers was $39,310 in 2011, according to a new On Numbers analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data.
Quote:
Here are how some of Florida’s other metropolitan areas ranked:

Gainesville: No. 94, $44,270 per year
Palm Bay-Melbourne-Titusville: No. 106, $43,570 per year
Miami: No. 131, $42,470 per year
Tampa: No. 139, $42,090 per year
Jacksonville: No. 158, $41,370 per year
