We're moving back to Central FL (Seminole Co) and we dont feel our soon-to-be 5 yr old is ready for Kindergarten. I know it's usually for 4 yr olds, but how about a soon-to-be 5 yr old (in July) that has been out of state for 3 yrs and hasn't had VPK yet?

I called the Seminole Co VPK phone number earlier but they are closed on Friday?!?

They should be able to get in as long as they turn Five prior to September first.

This is from their website:

Who is eligible?

The Fall 2013-2014 Program is available to all children who will be four years old on or before September 1, 2013 (birth date range 9/2/08 - 9/1/09) and are eligible to enter kindergarten in the Fall of 2014.
The Summer 2013 Program is available to all children who are currently four years old and had their fourth birthday on or before September 1, 2012 (birth date range 9/2/07 - 9/1/08) and are eligible to enter kindergarten in the Fall of 2013.
Contact the Early Learning Coalition of Seminole at 407-960-2460 for more information.

I don't see anything about holding a child back for a year before they start school, or how that might affect VPK. However, I know someone who held their son back in Volusia County and did not start him in Kindergarten until he was 6 because she felt he was too immature. He turned 5 in August (maybe) and would have been one of the youngest in the class.

You'll find out when you go to enroll your child. Worst case, find a private preschool for a few hours each day. VPK is only 3 hours anyway, AFAIK, unless you pay.
