Yep, exactly right!

I've been to $20k private schools, but ended up attending DPH and thought it was a great school. They offer a lot of programs and there wasn't bullying or social issues that plague many schools.

Anyway, DPHS got an A grade from the state in 2014, which is higher than West Orange and even the prestigious Winter Park got (B's).
Look, I generally like Dr. Phillips, but to infer that a school performed poorly because of kids that were "bussed in" is a actually a bit snobbish, and that's what I took issue with; as if those kids didn't deserve to be there if not for a special program.

I was also pointing out that there is much more to the DPHS school zone than the neighborhoods that they think of along Apopka Vineland.

Again, I didn't realize Tangelo Park was in the district since the program's students always had their own classification. However, I don't think I'm the only person who has seen a correlation between poverty-stricken areas and poor performance in schools. That's the whole reason why the program exists. It seems to be working!

DPHS has two magnet programs: Visual Performing Arts (VPA) and Center for International Studies (CIS). CIS is essentially a private school program within a public school. International Baccalaureate (IB) is offered at Cypress Creek. IMO students who graduated from IB vs students who graduates from CIS are very comparable and ended up going to the same caliber universities. CIS students were probably less stressed and had more opportunities to travel abroad. =)
