Hi All,

I was informed by my HR office this Friday, Aug 2nd that I am being relocated to Orlando and my start date is Sept 9th. I last lived in Winter Park in late 90s as a teenager and haven't really been back since except for a trip or two to Universal and New Smyrna.

I am taking a huge pay cut in the transfer. I am a federal employee and the COLA difference is almost 30% less in Florida. I will be working near Winter Park and need to find a place ASAP but the places within the radius of Winter Park are not in budget.

I can afford $650-$700/month and like most folks, would like to be a nice area without having to worry about my safety.

Any help or suggestions?

\Oh what about Apopka of Longwood? there has been good change and there is many pop up apartments in Maitland. (off the M-Exchange) Close to everything, but affordable but nice.

First of all, how much space do you need, bath bedrooms? As far as the pay cut,
no city or state income tax here, so deduct the taxes are paying from your loss.

Does that help the cut much?

It's just me, so a 1 bed, 1 bath. I have found a few nice complexes, but of course, they all have waitlists.

I will take a look, I avoided looking in Apopka because I remembered it being a terrible place back in the 90s. But thank you for the suggestion. Fingers crossed I can find a nice place soon.

Right off of the Maitland Exchange on the south side of the road there are several hotels with very nice Apartment Complex's just behind there.. The Great thing about that is you may closer to your new job, if your Job is Downtown Orlando.

Winter Springs is a good possibility, but the Longwood 434 Traffic could be a pill.

I found a nice place in Altamonte Springs, I had family inspect the unit and the complex and it's only 10 miles from work. I was approved yesterday Thanks for the suggestion, I looked in Maitland and that led me to Altamonte. Thanks again.

Learn all the backroads in Altamonte in case I4 is jammed up. Other than that Altamonte is a great area.
