Anyone here commutes from Viera/Melbourne/Rockledge area to Orlando?

I keep seeing conflicting information. Some claim the commute it's about 40 min., others over an hour. I'm in the IT field, looking to move to the Space Coast, but if for some reason later on I end up without a job, I want to see how doable is commuting to Orlando if living in Viera, FL.

Any inputs will be appreciated.

It's about 45 mins give or take Depending on where in Orlando you're going. The 528 isn't as bad as I4 but can get rough around the airport and at the interchange with I4 at peak times making the commute longer

Viera would be the closest option. Melbourne is at least a solid hour

Thanks for the information. I am considering a commute from Melbourne to the Sand Lake Rd area. Would you consider this commute using Hwy 528 slightly over an hour (depending on traffic)?

where in Melbourne, exactly? If you can stay close to W Melbourne, near I-95 exits, you can get to sand lake in about an hour. The further east you go, the worst it gets. US192 has a lot of stop lights, as does palm bay road.

I would recommend 528, but you do have the option of US192 east to St Cloud and then the turnpike to I-4, which is roughly the same (maybe a bit worse) in timing (and actually can be better when there is heavy traffic near the airport on 528). You'll also save toll $$$, as you will pay $1.50 each way on the turnpike vs at least $3-4 each way on the 528.

I'd honestly just move to Orlando if you got a job there. I used to go to Orlando from Melbourne for some chores and the drive seemed SO long to me to do daily. If you are okay with long commutes go for it. Melbourne is small but very pretty with beautiful beaches.
