Hello! I have to board my sheltie for 3 weeks over Christmas break I was hoping to take her with me, but she's too big to carry-on and they won't put her in cargo because I'm flying to/from Alaska and it will be too cold for her down there. So, alas, I must board her while I am home.

I usually board her at her vet (Shaffer Animal Hospital), but have never had her stay there any longer than 5 days. Does anyone have any suggestions for long term boarding?? I don't want to spend a ton of money, but I also don't want her in a cage for 3 weeks

Thanks for any help.

VIPet Resort in south Orlando is great! Not that close to Oviedo, but it's worth the trek--it's located off Sandlake Rd, but I can't remember the street name. Just do a Google search for it. We had to leave our dog there for nearly three weeks a few years ago and she did great--she stayed there several other times for two weeks at a time too. It's a "pet resort" type place with lots of free play time during the day with other dogs in Hot Dog Park--an indoor play area, and individual attention. The kennels are walled, but roomy and open at the top, so they're not really cage-like.

We moved from Orlando this summer, and although we love our new town in the Pacific Northwest, I wish we could find a boarding kennel here like VIPet Resort. They are a popular place and may not still have vacancies for Christmas though.

Good luck!

Lynn

What about All Creatures Pet Lodge on Tuskawilla Road? I haven't used it, but it's local.

Default Boarding

Bow Wow Resort in Altamonte Springs. They charge $30 a day,but it is cageless and the dogs play with the "day care" dogs during the day.
