My best friend and I are looking into relocating to Orlando from Baltimore. Putting aside jobs and costs of living, can anyone recommend a neighborhood to focus our apartment search? We want an area that's walking distance to restaurants, bars, coffee shops, stores, etc. It would be nice to be around other young single people as well, and we have to be within a half hour commute to downtown.

After many trips to the area, I don't recall it being very walkable...but I didn't get into the residential areas as much.

Three places come to mind. Downtown Orlando itself - many condo projects coming on line, investors will be looking to lease them out, and there are many other rentals now available in downtown Orlando

College Park, off of Edgewater drive. Many small homes for rent in the surrounding neighborhoods. Also townhomes and condos available for rent.

Winter Park. Similar to College Park, but rent will be higher.

Downtown Orlando has the most bars and nightclubs. College park has a few small bars, coffee shops, etc. Winter Park has Rollins College and upscale shopping, coffee shops, bars, restaraunts, etc. All are close to downtown Orlando. All have sizeable populations of young single people.
