Wow that did year fly. LOL. I moved the family down in June and I was back and forth until I retired in November.
I can't take it down here, I'm moving back...... Just Kidding.
Here is what I have learned.
  • The weather was not surprising because I visited here often, but my 1st winter was great; a little colder than I thought.
  • Living in Dr. Phillips was nice but, a little noisy from Disney fireworks and the Sand Lake traffic is as bad as others warned.
  • Does anybody speak English? I know I'm exaggerating. I know Orlando attracts the "Tourists" but I'm referring to the Hispanic community. I am half Puerto Rican and it just seems ridiculous sometimes.
  • The Traffic on I4 is very sucky at times, worse than the Long Island Exway. Lol.
  • Jobs.... Hmm, well I didn't really need 1 but I did want to keep busy. So I tried a few. I am not used to being lied to, or mislead. I did sales and they promise you the world. I should be a millionaire by now. But the not getting back to you crap was unprofessional. So I am being very picky before I even contact anyone.
  • The Elementary School for my daughter was very good but 1 of her teachers was lousy and that is on the teacher, mostly.
  • Shopping has been very easy, I have found a couple of excellent pizza places also. The Brooklyn Water Bagels over in Winter Park is great. Need 1 in South Orlando.
  • I have mentioned in other threads about the crappy internet service. I had Uverse in Dr. Phillips and it stunk. Speed was 12/1. I had DirecTV and their customer service is terrible and they are too expensive.
  • I just moved to Hunters Creek 1 month before my lease ended and I like it a lot. The Loop is great and I don't hear Disney fireworks anymore. I am also saving over $700 per month in rent.
I just wanted to share for any future transfers.

We love the Disney fireworks! We walk the dog at 10 pm just so we can watch 'em.

That's great. The issue for me was, I could only hear and feel them. The trees wouldn't allow viewing unless I was in certain locations.

Unless you were driving the LIE at 4:15AM daily, I can't see how you can possibly cite it as worse than I4.

Maybe I wasn't clear. I think I4 is worse.

I think you were clear, but the LIE on a good day is worse than I4 on a bad day.

The LIE is probably more predictable. If you live south of downtown, tourists can screw up your commute on I-4 at any time on any day.

That's great info Not4longNY. Thanks! How does Hunter's Creek compare to Doctor Phillips?
(Traffic, access, housing, neighbors, trees, shopping, speaking english LOL, etc.)
