When I used to live in California there were strictly enforced Occupancy limit laws. In California only two people per bedroom was the law with the only exception being a baby 18 months or younger. I live in Orlando, Florida now and some say the same laws apply and others say Florida does not have any occupancy limit laws at all. So my question is are there any occupancy limit laws in Orlando, Florida and if so who is responsible for enforcing such laws?

There are community laws - 2 per room, as in rental POLICY, HOA etc.. and HUD housing limits the 2 per room, but not Federal or state laws for private housing. As they keep jacking up the prices, what are they expecting? I see it getting the same as during the depression -couple of families sharing, easy- maybe it will force us all to be more of a community? Right now kids are not moving out or they move back in and parents are now also moving in back with kids as they get older,,, the economy will make that 2 rule disappear, if it hasn't already.

I don't believe there is a state rule, however many localities have codes on the books that limit occupancy. Regardless of the economy (which is improving) I don't see these laws changing. They are in place for a reason--fire and other emergency response, loads on sewers and water, etc.

As standard in rental practices, it is 2 per bedroom plus 1. That is standard throughout Florida. Apartment complexes are supposed to be extremely strict on that. As far as the comment about the economy, live where you can afford. It's that simple.

Many can't live where it is affordable and safe- long as they keep jacking up rent prices- people will continue to share space -- what's new?? I was a leasing MGR once, and we can make all the rules you want- night fall -office closes- bunk time- good luck with that- no wonder we have so many homeless- and growing in numbers. Hope that makes some happy- ugh

Well it also sucks living underneath someone with 15 children running around all day violating the laws and making a bunch of noise constantly?!!
