No. This type of thing is exactly what public funds are for. The majority of people want to improve their city's standing and pro sports are a great way to do that. I shudder when I think about what Orlando would be like if everything you opposed was never built. Our wonderful city must have some really strong guardian angels ensuring that people who share your views are NOT in power.

Like I said, we aren't selling out games with the pro teams we already have, what makes you think we'll sell them out with yet another team on the roster?

Wait, someone actually believes that 20k people are going to frequent MLS soccer matches in Orlando?

Yes, Orlando City Soccer already has a huge following pre-MLS, once it joins the MLS that number will grow even further. Over 50% of season ticket holder slots have already been purchased in an advance pre-sale for the next season. Not to mention, popularity of MLS in itself is growing rapidly nationwide, this is one of the reasons why new expansion franchises are opening up left and right.

So half the seats are gone. That doesn't mean that the other half will sell. Just because someone wants to go to games doesn't mean that they will or can.

Nothing is a guarantee, but the Magic have proven Orlando can support a professional team. The Magic have been top 10 in the NBA in attendance most years of their existence due to putting quality teams and/or big name stars on the court. Orlando City pulling in over 20K fans for last year's championship game (for division 3 soccer mind you) and going over 7,500 season tickets for MLS bodes very well for potential attendance.

I disagree. A one-off is very different than continued attendance. The Magic only sell about 80% of their tickets every season. The Preds continue to struggle, even though everyone wanted them when they came as well.

Turns out it was not field size that prevented Orlando City from playing at Brighthouse as they are now considering it for the USL Pro championship game. Apparently UCF just didn't want them there.

In any case, MLS wouldn't have allowed OCSC to play there permanently anyway due to its location, just like FIU is not a viable location for Miami's expansion team.

Brighthouse stadium has to be the most unlikely and ridiculous suggestion regarding a home for the MLS.

UCF wanted them, but they didn't want to allow alcohol during game days. Had they lifted the alcohol ban, OCSC would be playing there instead of Disney this year.
