Position is taking me to orlando on 50k/year salary. Any suggestions for places to live? I will be traveling quite a bit and dont want to spend more than 750/month on an apartment seeing i wont be there for extended periods of time.

not to mention, I would like to return from a business trip and see my belongings are still in place. so looking for a safe place to live near reasonably close to nightlife on my salary.

I've checked a lot into winter park... but cant seem to find anything available. District on Baldwin Park seems price appropriate, but I'm not sure of the surroundings. The other apartments on Baldwin Park were considerably more expensive.... anybody aware of any hidden gems out there?

City View was the only reasonable area downtown i was aware of... but the surroundings are horrendous. It seems like all the options are either beautiful/perfect/12-1300/month, or dumps at 550-600/month. I'm just looking for something reasonable in between.....

I mean how bad is City View itself? If the building really is sketchy then yes run, but the area is really only a block or two past the Amway and that area will be changing a lot very soon with the soccer stadium and Magic entertainment complex going in.

I have a young couple friend that lives there and they walk the 4 minutes to nice Church Street all the time and feel no less safe than most other areas.

There is a garage apartment in BP listed for 1100 a month on Zillow. That would be a good choice for you. Going too cheap on a apartment is not worth the loss of sleep worrying about "will my stuff be there when I get back".

There are some nice places along 436/Semoran in the Casselberry/Maitland area that will run you around $750/month. Basically, avoid any urban-style areas. Most of West Orlando along W Colonial Dr fits that category.
There are some decent apartments in Apopka along Piedmont Wekiva Blvd. Thos are also very close to toll roads, so travel into the city isn't too bad.
