No Asheville is pretty nice .. I have been there twice . I would still rather visit then live there ... I like the ocean , beaches , palm trees and tropical climate .... hence my preference for Florida .. you said on your earlier post "who would not want to live in a small southern town " .. well there are tons of them in Northern Florida , Georgia , Alabama , the Carolinas .... just not my cup of tea .. I am a city guy and the only city in any of these states that I could live in is Atlanta .. also a native New Yorker and I just could not adapt to a small Southern town .... hell my parents live 140 miles North of me in Sebring , Florida which is a nice quiet town and it bores the tar out of me ... again to each his own if a small southern time is your thing than more power to you .

I agree with you that was a strange post ... southern , eastern , western or northern town ... the less crime the better .. that was a bizarre post

I lived in Sebring for quite some time actually. It's nice there. People are very friendly and it has low crime.

3) Homes sit low to the ground maybe onlky 1-2 steps up to porch; looks cheap. I like the front porches myself.
4) Construction of homes looks cheap. Wood frame not block? no, there block.
5) Waay out yes Waay (emphasis). Would have to spend to much time commuting and tolls. That is true.
6) Not much around once leave Avalon. Heck it takes 15 minutes to get out. LOL, it can depending on where in Avlon and what time of the day.
7) Better than a lot of the older neighborhoods. Better than some, not as nice as some.
My thoughts
Could you recommend another area to look in the 250,000-300,000 price range..We'll definitely want a descent school district and newer homes. It also has to be "somewhat" near the airport.

Its suprising to see Sebring's crime index higher than the national average. It's good to see that in the areas of the most concern (those being murders and rapes) that the numbers are very low. I guess the property crime brings up the numbers. I havent lived there since the 90's, but I know I, as well as family members always felt safe and I honestly dont even remember hearing about crime at all. It looks like the last 3 yrs Sebring has had and maintained a decline in crime overall.

I also know of Sebring's "ghetto" area - and I bet most of it stems from that area.

I'd recommend Stoneybrook East which is right next to Avalon Park (or it may even be considered Avalon, I'm not sure). Nice homes, have come down in price quite a bit and it's as far away from Colonial/50 as you can get. The closer to Alafaya (the further away from Colonial/50), the better imo.

IF I was moving to NC, I think I'd pick Raleigh which seems nice.
