According to these numbers anyway which are based on the FBI Crime Report 2012. Winter Springs (#3), Oviedo (#9) and Lake Mary (#18) are all in the Top 20.

Disingenious thread title "Seminole County overall safest in Florida", considering it's a list of cities

Brevard County had 2 cities in there as well

Three ranked in the Top 20 trumps two in the Top 20, and the average of the three is higher than that of the two, so where's the issue other than you're a sore loser?

Something to keep in mind is that the list does seem to be only cities, and not towns or other forms of places to live.

For the town I'm living in, which didn't make the list because it isn't a city, it has a violent crime rank of .79 per 1,000 and property crime rate of 14.13 per 1,000, putting it lower than most of the places on the list. I can understand why they wouldn't put towns on that list, though. You'd end up with a top 20 that are these little places of <5,000 people that would knock all of those better-known places off the list.

It's nonsensical. does it look at counties? No. Does it even mention cities as a percentage of the corresponding county? No.

It was a stupid thread title. Maybe next time you should actually title thread after what the article says

Yeah... Last I checked, Casselberry, that crappy part of Longwood and half of Apopka are considered Seminole County...

Those definitely don't fit the profile of towns like Lake Mary and Winter Springs...

Actually more than half of Casselberry is not what you see along 17-92 and includes parts of Tuscawilla and Lake Howell, and the Seminole County section of Apopka is largely rather nice (newer communities) and part of the highly ranked Lake Brantley School District. Lastly while the crappy part of Longwood does exist, it's not a high crime area which is what the thread is about.

I'd believe that report, I have family that lives close to the Lake Mary/Sanford border and their area is very nice with little crime. I just visited a couple months ago and man has the areas around the mall built up since the last time I was there!

I live in Seminole, unincorporated Winter Park next to Interlachen golf course. We have been in our home 2.5 years and have never seen police cars anywhere in our neighborhood. No break in reports, very quiet.

Casselberry definitely has its nice parts. Along Derbyshire it is the same neighborhood as Maitland except being in the Seminole school district.
