You do. By law you need to have the card in the vehicle.

By law you have to have it in FL. However, if you dont have it for some reason, you get a summons.
If you can prove that insurance was in effect on the date of the infraction, you pay a small fine.

If you cant provide that proof within the allotted time, you loose registration and license.

Here you get the benefit of the doubt instead of getting hit with the cost of the tow, the storage and the hassle of loosing your vehicle just because you didnt have a card in your car.

The problem is that it allows the uninsured to drive off and potentially get into an accident. The card is to be in the car. If it's not, then you pay the price and won't make that mistake again.

Globalization and internet will prevent that growth, so build more stadiums and Ferris wheels -and them parks, and keep sand in that beach...that is our reality.

I believe you meant to say "Right to Work State", as Florida is definitely that

So you get a card effective Jan 1. The card is valid for a year.

You cancel the insurance in March.

In June you get pulled over for a tail light being out. You hand over your card.

Seems easy to get around unless the insurance company notified DMV and the computer says you have no insurance and then you are busted for providing false info.

The insurance companies seem more inclined to notify DMV about cancelled insurance than insurance that is in effect.

By the way, in NJ and NY, cards are only valid for six months and if you've ever been dropped for non-payment they require the whole term upfront. Definitely cuts down on scammers.

Do those education spending comparisons take into account that teacher health insurance, retirement, and other services administered through the schools (like speech therapy) aren't included in the education budgets of those other countries?

How do you know they all do drugs?, cell phones can be had for $15 a month, cars are cheap, and flat screen tvs can be had new for a few hundred bucks.

You are right. Making the "you shouldn't have a smartphone" argument in 2007 was valid. Today, it isn't. Phones are cheaper than they've ever been. Plans are cheaper than they've ever been. You can get the previous generation iPhone for free, and you can even by the iPhone 6 and turn a profit if you wait for a gift card deal and trade in your phone.

Have people not been to the electronics department at Walmart, Target, or visited a Best Buy lately? The ONLY TVs available are big screens. They are now the norm.

When I graduated college prior to 2008, I was told many times that I needed to buy buy buy. I am glad I didn't listen. The only thing I could have afforded was possibly a glorified apartment, I mean condo conversion. I'm talking $120-140,000 for a one bedroom, and that was way out of range for me at the time. Those things are worth $40,000 today.
