My sister moved out to Orlando, Fl 3 weeks ago trying to find a cheap extended hotel or motel to stay until she finds somewhere too live. She has a section 8 and she's running out of time. she's been living in her car with less to no money. Does any one know of some low cost hotels in Orlando that she can stay with her family. Please send some info if you know of thank you.

What was she thinking? She brought a family down with no job, place to stay, and not enough money to survive? Best bet is send money so they can return home where family can assist. Florida is not the paradise people think it is. We seem to have less services available than other states and what we do have is stretched so far that it ends up being a waiting line to nowhere in a lot of cases. People need to stay where they are already getting assistance rather than thinking all be well if they move to Florida because it is warm or they like Disney World. Get the step up in their home states. Get on their feet first. Save up a lot of money and then maybe make the move.

In the mean time, she needs to contact
Salvation Army Orlando Women's Shelter and Services - Salvation Army Orlando Women's Shelter and Services Orlando Florida

to get some help for right now.

Also maybe talk to some churches to see if they can help her out some.

Yet another statistic who came chasing a pot of gold.

How about this novel idea. She uses what cash she has left to drive to your place and you put her up until she can find a job and a place of her own.

Mod cut: offensive to others. Not acceptable.

Because it is off-season, she might be able to find a place in the $130-150/week range, however they will limit the number of consecutive weeks she can stay to 2 or 3. Is that within her budget?

You'd be better off putting your efforts towards helping your sister. I'm doing just fine, thanks.

Slightly OT, but I often wonder about people who use "I'll pray for you" to try and imply some sort of moral superiority but then come across sounding both insincere and lower class than they probably are.

I've gotten many "go to heck" letters laced with profanity with the whole "God bless you"/"Goddess bless you" at the end of it. It never seemed to the letter writers that this was incredibly ironic. Just a Monday morning musing. I certainly believe in the power of prayer…when it is used respectfully and responsibly.
