Hi everyone,

I'm currently a UCF student living at a college apartment and absolutely hate it. I'm not like the typical college kid who is loud, annoying, and loves to party. I find myself to be quiet and peaceful and just looking for a new place to call home while I finish my degree in the next year. Orlando has definitely not been my cup of tea, considering I've grown up in a small suburb in SW Florida.

I'm looking for a very SAFE, quiet, family-oriented area (fewer college students, the better) within 10 or so miles from UCF-Main campus. A nice little apartment for myself and my boyfriend. I've been looking at Oviedo, Winter Springs, and Avalon Park. Any thoughts on what would fit my style?

Also, are their any specific apartments that anyone would recommend? I would prefer gated-access if possible. Rent around $1100 per month for 2bed/2bath.

We've taken a look at Shadow Creek in Winter Springs and Knightsbridge at Stoneybrook in Avalon Park. Any thoughts on those?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

I was in the same situation when I was finishing up school at UCF. I ended up moving to Reflections Apartments in Casselberry for a year and a half. It was about a 25 minute drive to school, but worth it to get away from the other students. The only downside I had living there was the smell from a nearby swamp during hot and humid days if the wind blew in a certain direction. Considering the other alternatives within 30 minutes of campus, I'd live there again in the same situation. There are other places though - check the Aloma & Tuskawilla intersection, I forgot the name of those condos/apartments. I know how you feel though, the living situation isn't fun for respectable students. Either you live in a frequent-party complex, live in a frequent-crime ghetto complex, or pay $1200-1400/mo for a 2bd/2ba apartment in a luxury complex near Waterford.

I think the areas you said(Oviedo, Winter Springs, and Avalon Park) are good for what you are looking for, Oviedo being more like a small town.
