Bmw335xi thank you for your post. In your last sentence you asked if I would like more information. Yes, please. This is a big decision for me to make.

GAtoFL Yes, I am actually moving and not just discussing. I have been approved and placed money down on a credit check and application fee at Legends at Lake Mary and also at Forest Hills Condominiums in Payson. Neither place has a one bedroom open yet. But, that's O.K. because I want to really make the right decision first and this discussion really help me.

Since I'm on SS and pension, taxes are not an issue for me as finding a job is not either.

So, I think my decision will be rent price. - about $300 less in AZ

I'm assuming utilities are less in AZ because of lower humidity. In Payson I worry about cell service and internet??

Payson souunds safer than FL and does not have as garage as FL does.

From most everything I've read over the past months is that FL has people I'm trying to get away from, but AZ sounds more "patriotic" (I'm aproud VET) and really second amendment friendly. And finally, less crowded.

Thank you.

Yea Florida is not for everyone and if you feel like Arizona is better then I think you should follow your heart and move there instead of being in a place you don't like.

Utility Bills: Both states will have high utility bills because of the heat during the summer. However, I personally think you could save more in Lake Mary during the winter because the weather is not as cold as in Payson. Payson gets quite cold during Dec-Feb, so you'd need to turn on the heat.

Crime: Lake Mary is one of the safest parts in the country. It has a much lower crime rate than even Payson.

Second Amendment: Arizona is more gun friendly as in you can open carry. However, Florida is also a gun friendly state as in you can get a concealed carry permit. Rick Scott won the election, so there will also be no meddling with Florida's Stand Your Ground Law either.

Overall, I would visit both places because they are very different. Payson is tiny town in the middle of nowhere surrounded by nature. Lake Mary is a small town, but is still part of Greater Orlando. It comes down to preference, but I wouldn't let any of the factors you mentioned be a con against Florida because Florida is still a very gun friendly state, crime is very low in Lake Mary, and you might even spend less in utilities than in Payson. It really depends on what kind of environment you want.

Many thanks to all. I'm leaning heavily towards AZ mainly because of the riding a Harley is my retirement pleasure.
