I am moving with my husband and our two daughters (age 3 and 5) My husband wants to attend culinary school at lecordon bleu in orlando. We will be staying with family untill we find the right place. We are looking for a place with great schools, low crime, lots of restaurants for my husband to potentially become employed (he has a lot of experience), and low cost rentals (around 800 for a 2 bdrm), and commute time 45 minutes of less. I have looked into areas in and around altamonte springs and would love any suggestions that I can get! Thanx!

Casselberry. There really arent any low traffic areas in central florida. With our car centric culture traffix is just a part of life.

I have a friend who works a few hours a week at Bonefish Grill in Longwood, and he makes pretty good money there. You might want to check it out.

The restaurant row in Dr. Phillips has an amazing selection of restaurants to work at, plus schools in that area are good.

The only really safe area with good schools and two bedroom rentals in the $800 range will be in Seminole County. As already mentioned by Crane's Rooster, check out the Casselberry/Winter Park area...specifically the Andover at Winter Park Apartments at Howell Branch Road and SR436. It's in the "A"-rated Eastbrooke Elementary School zone and it's about a mile from the apartments which rent at $800 for a two bedroom. Your husband's commute to school wouldn't be ideal, but not beyond acceptable either (about 20 miles). You can up your possibilities if you can get your budget up to around $1000 a month, bearing in mind the metro area average for a two bedroom apartment is around $965 a month.
