Another question... how is the air quality in Orlando? One of the reasons we are relocating is because we live in a high pollution area, and my lungs aren't doing well. (I've had pneumonia three times this winter.) For example, are there ever days when they announce on the news to avoid exercising outside because the air is too bad? Would living nearer to the beach be better for air quality?

Thanks in advance!

No air quality alert days here from pollution, no…that's part of the reason we moved from DC.

Now you may find that if you have seasonal allergies, there's a bit of adjustment to the local pollen, and on a very rare occasion there may be a wildfire in the summer that puts a bit of smoke in the air, but it isn't an everyday (or even every week) occurrence.

Pollution isn't a big issue when it comes to air quality in Orlando but allergens can be. We can also get alot of smoke and smog during wildfire season.

As a native of Central Florida, Seminole County is your best choice for schools and not a bad commute into the employment centers of Orlando, Maitland. Stay out of Orange, based on your budget.

Hunters Creek Schools are excellent and the area has everything. You can probably find a 3BR rental for under 1500.

I might be mistaken, but I was under the impression that the schools there are so-so.

Thanks for the info, everyone. Our house is taking longer to sell than we anticipated, so we haven't done our recon visit yet. I've liked some rentals I've seen on Zillow for Hunter's Creek. And I like that it's close to Disney World too. We live 600+ miles from Disneyland, but have annual passes, and still drive down to Anaheim a few times a year, (in fact, we just got back from Disneyland late last night), so it would be fun for us to be able to run over to Disney World for an afternoon or evening visit. It's been 25 years since I've been there, though.
