Well it this is the case you can also try looking in Apopka, Maitland, Casselberry, Williamsburg, Hunter's Creek, University Park and Avalon Park.

Thank you for all the replies, and specific areas as well. I'll be looking into each one.

You won't find anything worth living in those areas with a $180k budget while wanting 3 bedrooms. Use www.redfin.com to check different areas. I think you're best bet would be in Seminole County because housing is cheaper there. You could also look into Winter Garden, which isn't too far from Dr. Phillips/Windermere since you said schools aren't that important.

We're hoping to spend around 180k for a house, but I'm not sure if it's realistic with these areas.

Would we be able to find a house in the usual recommended areas? (Winter Park, Dr. Phillips, Celebration, Alamonte Springs, ect. )

If not, recommendations for other areas is always welcome.

I did a quick 1 minute check on realtor.com and found several single family homes within your budget in Winter Park. Albeit, in the 32792 zip code which is the less desirable area I lived in many years ago. Now this area isn't exactly what would conjure images of cobblestone streets and mature trees lined up against rows of Mediterranean style mansions. But 32792 has some nice areas as well. However, you certainly get what you pay for when it comes to real estate. Altamonte Springs would expand your choices much more as many here have mentioned. And the last time I checked prices in Celebration, I think the cheapest townhomes were over 300k. Anyway, good luck with your search.

What makes these areas less desirable?

As per a question earlier, could 220k max find anything decent? I'm assuming not. Seems to be quite an upper class area.

You can find 3bed 2bath standard homes in Winter Park for less than that...
Only a small portion of Winter Park would be considered "Upper Class." Most is middle/working-class.
