We're about to change carriers since crickets stupid merger so i need to know which service works the best in orlando. Id prefer something without a contract like straight talk.

I have had both Straight Talk and Virgin Mobile (both non-contract plans) and they worked fine, although I preferred Virgin Mobile. My sister had Boost for a time and she tended to drop calls a lot. My other sister has had Verizon forever and she loves it; however, she pays a lot for her service (needs it for work purposes). My mom uses a super cheap Tracfone for 10 bucks a month, and that works well for her too...

I think all of the major companies would work as Orlando has fairly good cell coverage; mostly it is just about your preference and price point. Cell service however seems to be one of those things that if you ask 20 people you would probably get 20 different answers

Why not cricket? I've never gone prepaid until the cricket merger happened and I've been very pleased since.

because they screwed so many customers over with dropping the cdma phones, we paid full price for our phones and only found out 2 weeks ago that we can't use them anymore. I refuse to support a company that makes me waste my money.

You were supposed to get credits from AT&T/new cricket to exchange your phone for gsm
AT&T Absorbs Cricket: What You Need to Know - PC Mag

AT&T buying cricket was the best thing that happened to it. Basically, you now have a decent network (better than tmo or Sprint imo) at a cheap prepaid price.

Let's be honest, up until then, cricket, leap, boost, straight talk etc haven't been as good as AT&T or Verizon.

If you can't afford much, cricket has a free Windows phone with rebate and a pretty cheap Android smartphone too after rebate, even without the above subsidies

Total Wireless is apparently Verizon's discount brand. Try that if you have a CDMA phone.
