My budget would be anywhere from 700 to 800, maximum 850.

To find anything in the areas discussed you'll need to be in the $850-$800 a month range at minimum for a desirable apartment for most. Anything less than $800 in the metro area in general is going to be sketchy. The Orlando area has disproportionately higher rent than what average salaries would dictate.

I was on Apartmentguide.com and apartments.com and entered Altamonte Springs, Lake Mary, Wekiva Springs and a few apartments were in the upper 700s, low 800s range. I'm guessing those areas would be less desirable? I'm okay paying up to $850 but would prefer to have something in the low 800s if possible. I don't mind paying a little bit more as long as the area is safe, clean, and have access to banks, shopping, and grocery.

Not so much the area because they're all largely nice, rather the apt complex itself. Which ones were you considering in that price range? There may be an exception or two but thinking not.

Parts of East Altamonte are rather iffy. Those are likely the areas you're seeing in the 700s. Being that you're moving alone with no kids, the kind of nonsense (mostly just immature young folk, lots of pot smokers, parties, loud music, etc.) you'll encounter might not bother you too much, but for a few extra bucks, you'll get MUCH NICER places around a much better demographic.

On apartments.com, I searched for Lake Mary & Altamonte Springs and a few options for apartments are as follows (keep in mind these are for 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom)

Lake Mary
1. Pebble Creek - $825
2. Sun Lake - $720 - $820
3. Bell Timacuan - $805 - $910
4. The Terraces at Lake Mary - $865

Altamonte Springs
1. Lakeshore Apartments - $820 - $850
2. The Palms at Altamonte Springs - $730 - $820
3. Camden Renaissance - $829 - $1029

Keep in mind that I was looking at the lowest square footage.

Arcenal, I would prefer not to have the immature young folks, pot smokers, parties and loud music. I want a place where I can come home, relax, and feel safe taking a walk even if its 11pm or 12am.

This is a great recommendation, this particular neighborhood seen on this Google link is actually called Sabal Point which is a very nice and quaint residential community located in Longwood/Wekiwa Springs area, this area was booming in the early 2000s with an influx of new residents and new housing, now it is more settled down and consists of mostly long-term families and older couples, the school system in this area is also excellent if that ever becomes a factor.. I wouldn't say this area is necessarily "cheap" but some of the older housing units such as the one seen in the link above may be closer to your price range and still in a located in the middle of a very desirable area..

I'm surprised that Sun Lake is that little though it has been around awhile and may not be as nice as it once was...i.e. not renovated recently. Of the lot I would say if you can get in at Bell Timacuan for anywhere close to $805 a month, it's the deal. It's gated, clean/modern, populated by largely working professionals, in a very nice safe area that's quiet, yet very close to a lot of amenities plus I-4 and the 417.

I will check out Bell Timacuan the next time I'm in Orlando to research the area. Can you recommend any gated, clean/modern, populated by largely working professionals, in a very nice safe area that's quite, yet very close to a lot of amenities and close to easy access to other areas of Orlando with the areas below:

Altamonte Springs
Winter Park
Longwood
Winter Springs
Wekiva Springs
Casselberry
Oveido
Maitland
Windermere
Dr. Phillips
Avalon Park
Hunter's Creek

I'm looking for rents from $800 to $900, preferably maximum at $850. If I have a few apartments I can target I can visit them on my research trip. If one was to research the above areas over a weekend (say arrive Friday late night, leave Sunday afternoon at 1), would it be possible? If so, can you recommend specific roads to travel on to get a "general" idea of how each city is above? Another option I was considering would be to rent a condo, townhome, or house.
