Just spent the last week looking at homes in the Clermont vicinity, and found some possibilities in the Montverde and also Sugarloaf area. We like the area, and tried to drive from out there to Celebration and Lake Buena Vista (possible job area) in the afternoon, but found it took us an hour. This is not what MapQuest says it should take.

So locals, what do you think about that drive time? And is it best to avoid 50 to 429 and instead take back roads, like Avalon, or are we looking at long commutes no matter which way we go? I did read that Avalon is going to be widened in about a year, so I know that will be an issue eventually if I choose that as a route.

I won't have snow and ice to deal with, so length of drive isn't really the problem, but I do wonder if the hassle of traffic is going to be a constant issue. We have a 15 minute drive here now, which is manageable even in a snowstorm, but the traffic is not really an issue. Curious what you all think is realistic from the Montverde area.

Where in Lake Buena Vista? If it's anywhere near 429, why not just take the Turnpike straight to 429 and avoid 50 altogether?
Also, from Montverde, you're looking at a good 45 minute drive or so according to GoogleMaps. Add minor traffic in some cases, and you can easily stretch that to over an hour.
Good choice on Montverde/Sugalrloaf, though
