For around 3000 sq. ft. SFH, new construction with pool, our homeowner's quotes ran from $890 to $2300 per year.

For a 1900 sq ft SFH, no pool, I pay about $900. House was built in 2001.

Approx. 2700 sq. ft. with pool, a little over $1600 a year. Just moved here, higher than we expected...double what we paid in Illinois.

It's still cheaper than living closer to the water. I was looking in Fort Myers and a small (950 sq ft) inexpensive home from the 70s concrete block is $1300 a year.

The comparisons don't matter a whole lot minus the level of insurance coverage provided.

Yep, It is more expensive on the coast, but again it does vary by how much insurance coverage you buy. We just paid ours in May-Southern Brevard County on the mainland- 1984 built/total renovation 2010 - 1560 sq foot house - and it was $2050. We probably pay more for content than some people and have enough to cover tear down, rebuild, and rental while doing it. I remember how horrible it was for my parents when our house burnt down and they were underinsured They ended up basically having to pay for our house twice. Replacing everything inside was out of pocket.

Exactly my point earlier. Some only pay for coverage of the home and not to rebuild, for only 50% of the content, all of the content..etc. etc.

Further variations exist by location as well since flood zones do not exist just along the coast.

When you get a mortgage I think you have to insure it to rebuild value. I am buying a home that is cheaper than rebuild value by a lot.
