My family and I will be making a move to Florida in the next 1-2 years and we are interested in the Orlando area. I am a nurse and am interested in getting a job at Orlando regional medical center so I have been trying to do some research on decent areas to look into moving to. I could really use some input from anyone currently living in the area in regards to areas with low crime rates and decent schools as well as a good place to raise our family. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Depends... Lots of options, but depends on your budget and how much commuting you're willing to cope with.
Are you limited to ORMC?

Dr Phillips

These two are my favorite and first choice followed by...

Lake Mary
Windermere

Here are some recommended neighborhoods that would be within a comfortable commute to ORMC:

Baldwin Park
Winter Park
Lake Ivanhoe/North Downtown
College Park
Maitland

Hope this helps kick start your search. Best of luck!

If you're not 100% set on ORMC, you might look both for housing and career opportunities out in the Lake Nona area.

eiman123... Lake Nona comes to mind? Or somewhere if you can find it within Boone schools which I've heard are good, and seem to stretch out a little ways.

Boone: William R Boone High School - Orlando, Florida - FL - School overview
Not sure exactly how it is zoned, but I think it goes at least as far as Conway, which would also put you within about a 10 minute drive of the airport. I'm surprised it's only rated as a 6 as it had been 7-8 before, but I have heard good things about it overall. The numbers only reflect state test scores so they are not be all end all. I can say that at very least, I have heard better things about Boone than I have about any of the other Orlando city schools (Evans, Jones, University, Colonial, East Ridge, etc.).

Lake Nona: Lake Nona High School - Orlando, Florida - FL - School overview This one gets a little higher rating, but is not tremendously different from Boone really, plus you likely get more bang for your buck in the Conway area, and get the added childhood enrichment of being close to Downtown Orlando and it's near east side neighborhoods and all that they offer. Lake Eola Park, Barber Park, Carl T Langford Park, Church Street and Wall Street Plaza, Amway Center and the Dr. Phillips PAC are all good things to have within a 10 minute drive.
