If you meant Winter Garden, look into Ocoee too (around Maguire road close to downtown Windermere). All three sort of border Windermere. Belmere is gated and homes around $300ish to $1m+ish. There's new development going on and more planned- a big condo development coming 2017 with upscale grocery store and restaurants.

I live in Dr Phillips area and have since 2010 but I work (real estate) all over, so if I can answer any specific q's, just ask. Good luck!

Much of Ocoee is to be avoided at all costs. South of Route 50 is generally fine (with some exceptions mostly on the east side) but north of 50 butts up against some very undesirable areas.

What's the budget to stay within?

Directly North and west of Downtown Winter Garden is actually pretty good in most parts (My Wife's family has been living off Main St for the past 50+ years). But you're going to be looking at much older homes (with character, but unless you have a good budget, you'll be looking at needing to do lots of updating) Between DT WG and 50 though...yeah, Stay away.

South of 50 is still nice, but all new style stucco homes with planned communities and HOAs. If looking for a single family home, plan for a minimum of 200K budget, but there are some townhome options for just under 200K still.

I agree with you to some extent. However, most everything along 437 coming from S. Apopka is pretty nice.
