I drove from 434 to downtown yesterday for the first time in a while, and holy smokes the traffic shifts are chaotic! I can see this mess resulting in multiple serious crashes... Yikes!

I've told you again and again, take back country roads, not I4.

You could have taken 17-92 from 434 instead.

Let's see... 17-92 from 434 to Michigan = stop-go gridlock city traffic... 1.5 hrs according to Googlemaps.
I4, despite its current state, 30 minutes.

Something tells me you don't drive.

I used the I-4N to leave Deltona and get onto 95N to leave last week. It reminded me of the "Big Dig" fiasco of Boston years ago.

I already don't like this toll system. Especially when I am lost, travelling in circles and no human being to talk to at these tolls! I was very frustrated, confused, angry and getting a little scared. I finally found a very nice lady toll taker and she sent me on my toll free way back to Deltona. Which, was where I was trying to get to.

I am going to have to give in and get myself a smart phone, just for GPS!

You'll quickly get used to the toll system here. They're actually quite convenient.

417 goes N/S on the Eastern edge of the Metro.
429 goes N/S on the Western edge of the Metro.
408 goes E/W from one end of the Metro to the other, cutting through the core sections of Orlando, and connects 429, Turnpike, I-4 and 417 together.

They're really convenient once you get the hang of them.

I know only I-4 to get to Deltona. How would I travel "back roads" to get to Saxon St in Deltona?

The entire stretch from Orlando to Deltona is, in fact, NORTH

The only reason the directions are called Eastbound and Westbound is because from one end to the next (Daytona-Tampa) it's East to West. I4 through all of Orlando is North and South.
