Since Friday we've been seeing these chubby bugs that are full of blood.

We just noticed our floor was splattered with blood .. we thought the dog was cut or something.

We found a bug that I had just stepped on. We found two more near the hall bathroom. They were both plump and full of blood. We're not sure if it's our blood or the dog's blood but either way we have no idea what they are.

We live in Heathrow close to the woods.

Anyone have any idea what they are and how to get rid of them?

This is a tick that is engorged with blood. It probably fell off your dog. Check with your vet for a good tick control.

Ticks. I HATE Ticks.
Have you recently moved? Either you house, or your yard is infested with the things. They are very tiny and hard to see, until they get attached to their quarry and fill up.

You need to call a pest control service. And get some Flea and Tick treatment for your dog.

Yep, makes sense! Running to vet now!

Can they/ do they also feed on humans? Do I need to worry about Lyme disease here in FL?

Yes, and yes.

If you live in a wooded area, watch out as they can also fall from trees... Pesky little critters.

Yes they do feed on humans. Yes you do need to worry about Lyme disease in Florida.

I wouldn't freak out about it, but I would get them under control as quickly as possible.

It looks like a tick.. If you find more than one inside your house, then I would recommend contacting a Pest Management company ASAP to inspect your home and conduct the necessary treatment. In addition to the pest treatment, it also wouldn't hurt to conduct a deep cleaning of the areas where you found the tick, this includes floors, behind appliances, ceilings, light fixtures, walls, etc..

If you have a pet it would also be a good idea to inspect your pets fur to ensure there is not more attached, if in doubt take your pet to the vet.
