Another wave of price increases today.

Today's Prices-
$105 - MK 1-Day
$97 - other theme parks 1-Day
$829 - Top Annual Pass

$59.75 MK & Other Parks 1-Day
$515 - Top Annual Pass

I wouldn't have hard feelings about this if anything substantially new was introduced in the last 10 years. We have a new Fantasyland, but an incredible amount less at AK & HS. (No Jammin' Jungle Parade, No American Idol, No Backlot Tour)

They are revamping Hollywood Studios with a Star Wars land and something else I cannot remember.

I don't like the price increases, but with the accompanying story about them exploring the idea of charging by park demand, I think it is in their best interests to raise prices in order to weaken the crowds a little bit.

I also heard today that there are new versions of the seasonal and annual passes, and a report Disney is looking into surge pricing, it would cost more for a particular day if it is expected to be busier.

Disney is the premier theme park/entertainment destination in Orlando. Cheaper entertainment exists in the city.

Toy Story Land
Correct. They are doing that to get people to come during the less busy times. When they reach capacity, they have to close the parks to everyone except annual passholders

You know, unless I get my hands on free/severely-discounted tickets, I've been taking the kids to the two Fun Spots, and it's more than enough for a fun outing with rides. Kids don't last a full day out on their feet in the hot sun on thrill rides, so I can't justify spending over $100 per ticket for what will be a half day of enjoyment.
Disney is clearly catering to tourists, and not to locals, as tourists are much more inclined to spend that kind of money on what to them is a family vacation, versus us locals who are simply going for an outing.

This is not surprising, the theme park industry is booming with success and the market demand is at an all time high, especially now that the economy is in a brighter spot and consumer confidence on vacation spending has increased compared to past years, that paired along with new attractions and expansions at the parks, it was only a matter of time.. I may be somewhat bias as I work in Hospitality Management, however, IMHO for Orlando and Florida in general this is a good thing, the more visitors that come here and spend money, the better for our local economy and tourism tax revenues which get reinvested into our local area..

You're getting more stuff than 10 years ago though. I don't think it's that bad considering everything you get. I find the daily admission tickets outrageous though.

It's about a 75% increase.
There's nowhere near that much new content.

For half the things that have been added, something has been removed.

It's a business- I get that.
Rising prices as long as the consumer still goes.

Just seems more out of reach now than ever.
