Quick back story...Grew up in South Florida (Ft. Lauderdale/Miami) Until i was 24. Moved to Gainesville(believe it or not for work and not school). Ended up further my education anyway lol. Currently 27 Years old and just recently married to my wife. I work in the medical field, and she works as a manager at publix.

With all that being said we have been to Orlando SEVERAL times. And feel like we have a good sense on the area, but are still a little unsure where to live. She can transfer to almost any publix so thats no issue. I would like to work at Florida Hospital but honestly any medical facility would be fine.

We really like the area near the melenia mall, obviously Dr. Phillips is nice, we have no interest in Metro West, and Downtown seems OK. We have yet to explore east orlando so i can't really comment on that. We are headed out next week to look for apartments and was wondering any suggestive areas?

The answer to your question is going to depend on (a) your budget, and (b) where you get jobs. Actually (b) is more important in deciding the question of where to live. Commuting in the Orlando area can be a nightmare, especially with the ongoing multi-year construction on I-4.

Get your job situation settled, then look for nearby housing in your budget.

And FWIW, living near Millenia is not generally recommended.

Millenia is a nice area to shop and eat, but it's not a safe area living wise.

Fair enough. Should I look near the airport? Downtown? Winter Park?

I'd like to stay around 1200/month. Apartment. Preferable near some hospitals or medical centers

You can probably find what you're looking for near Thornton Park or Milk District area. I have some friends that are renting apartments around there for under $1,000 a month still so 1200 as your budget should be reasonable. The closer to downtown you get though, the less your dollar will stretch.

North of downtown near Lake Ivanhoe/Mills 50 district is a great area to look as well. Close to the hospitals and very centrally located in Orlando in general.

Depends on what kind of lifestyle do you want...

Thornton Park / Lake Eola is good if you want a more urban type of environment. You should be able to find some nice studio apartments in "The Vue" and "101 Eola" check them out, they are very nice!

I agree, more for your money and equally convenient to amenities. Check out the Audubon Park area east of Mills and north of Colonial Drive. The main section is centered around Corrine Drive but extends north and south between roughly Bumby and Bennett.
