Florida's DMV (or whatever it is actually called) is probably the most efficient government entity one can experience in their lifetime. If you come in with an appointment, they are courteous and respect your time to the minute.

Yes. A complete and far cry from California's DMV system- an utter nightmare.

I have several old tags because I had changed my tags to personalized plates. I moved out of Fl and now going back. I saved the tags so that I can transfer the plates and not pay the impact fee. I can still do that right? Also my aunt is also relocating. Can I give her a plate and she transfer it to her car and not have to pay the impact fee? Her vehicles are also from out of state.

We are likely moving to Florida soon (anticipated job offer)

What if you have a car loan through your bank (a local credit union in Indiana) and they hold the title until the car is totally paid off? Will the bank give me something in writing to take to Florida with me?

Just curious if I should put that on my list of "stuff to do and get before we move"

Default Car Tags

Good Morning,

Depending on what county you will need to make an appointment to get your tags. The County office is at the Tax Collectors office. When you visit them they can provide a temporary tag till proof of ownership is received.

What is the impact fee? Is it imposed by the Florida DMV on 1st time registrations in the state? Same amount for all cars? Thanks!

not sure about the impact fee, StephanieG4 just bring your car registration to the appointment. They will contact the lien holder. That's all I did.
