I recently found out about the nextdoor app maybe 6 months ago or so, it’s such a useful tool and a great idea. You have to provide your address and name and it connects you with people in your specific neighborhood along with your neighboring neighbors. It’s very active, whether you have questions about a good handyman, landscaper, suspicious person, a crime, a lost pet, etc, you will find it there and I’m amazed by how active it is. This is especially useful for safety reasons. Anytime there is a suspicious person, car or even an actual robbery, people post, often times with pictures they took or their security cameras took. If you don’t have it already, you should really get it.

+1, totally agree. They should probably do a better work with marketing this. And it's not only the app, they have web view also (via regular browser).

I use it since we moved to our house last year - all the info you may need. Handyman recommendations, painter recommendations, lost cat, lost dog, missing child, stuff for sale nearby, local HOA questions, and more. Plus, their verification method makes it difficult for somebody not actually living in your neighborhood to join.

No thanks. I don't know most of my neighbors and I'll keep it that way. No one in my neighborhood interacts.

Exactly, I guess in 2018, this is how neighbors interact. I actually like it more this way haha. It's amazing the success rate for lost pets. A person posted this 100lb tortoise they keep in their backyard. Before you know it, neighbors were posting pictures they took of it thinking it was a giant wild turtle. The tortoise ended up being returned the same day. Another example a big alligator was spotted down the street from me and the neighbor posted a picture and warned people to be careful of their pets and children going to the lake. A bunch of neighbors called it in and wildlife or whoever they came the very next day and captured a gator. I've sold stuff from it, joked with neighbors I never met in person, received great doctor recommendations, etc... it truly feels like a community where people watch out for each other.

It's a great app/site because people who actually care about their neighborhood go on there to post about things. Makes it nice to know that there's a few others (at least for my neighborhood) that actually care about living in a decent place. If it wasn't for Nextdoor, I would think my neighborhood was 100% complete garbage considering all I see every time I'm outside is people speeding by, blaring loud music, nobody waving or smiling at their neighbors, etc.

So are you telling me we no longer need vigilante wannabee cop guys like G Zimms patrolling our streets?
(I kid... I actually use Nextdoor and am a huge supporter of it. I have young kids and am not always around them. Welcome to 2018)

Lol. I know more about my neighbors than I want to know. I prefer to keep to myself.

In a different sort of neighborhood it could work for me I suppose. Our local
bloggers keep us up on the crime stuff.

Nextdoor is critical to have if you want to know important things, like a car drove down the street too fast, or someone heard a helicopter last night.

Nextdoor is actually a good way to get a feel for the general community culture in an area.

Dr. Phillips, it's pretty much all harmony, people looking out for each other, warning about dangerous wildlife spotted, questions about recommendations, reporting suspicious cars/people and overall very pleasant. Someone found their lost pet after a long time missing and they are just getting showered with happy thoughts from people from various areas from Dr. Phillips.

BrokerHarry's area of Bellalago/Solvita etc seems to be mostly grumpy old people complaining about dog poop.

It'd actually be good to be able to buy a 7 day preview of an area, so you can see what the neighbors are like before buying or renting a home there lol.
