We might be moving to Orlando from Texas. My husband would be working In Orlando. We are from a small town now and like the Suburban lifestyle. Looking for the best suburb with not a far commute for him and definitely interested in the best schools for our kids. We have a 2 and 3 year old now but it’s definitely something we are looking into. I have researched so many suburbs that I’m just overwhelmed since I know nothing about Florida nor the area

At least that’s what he thinks. Not 100% sure at the moment

The Wekiwa Springs & Sweetwater area would be a nice place to live and would be very close to Lockhart if that's where he ends up working. Lake Mary is also a very desirable suburb and not too far from there. Seminole County is well regarded for its public schools, probably more so than neighboring Orange & Osceola Counties.

If he does end up at Lockhart, I would recommend starting your search in Sweetwater/Wekiwa. The homes will probably be older but the communities are very established and close to shopping/dining. His commute would be very short too (probably in the 10-20 minute range depending on where you buy). Depending on what type of home you want and your pickiness level, you can find a home as low as $250k or as high as $750k+. Keep in mind it's an older area so some updating might be necessary.

I agree regarding Wekiva or Sweetwater Oaks.

Husband is actually flying in tomorrow to visit the area and have an interview. I will tell him to drive around those areas. Thanks.

Ocoee has some nice area that are not too far. The State of FL Dept of Education sponsors
the school report card for all schools in the state. They are rated A-F and you can look up
areas you are interested in moving.

Winter Garden is an up and coming area with a great downtown and very family friendly.

As someone else mentioned, there are parts of Seminole County known for good schools,
but that is a little farther away. (There are good schools in Orange also, you just have to
pick the better ones. Orange County contains the city of Orlando)

Good luck.
