My 14yo son and my nephew were thinking about doing the Junior Lifeguard program at WNW this summer. Now I'm having second thoughts. We live out of state, and I'm not too sure I want him working there after what happened the other day. Do you all have any thoughts about the shooting? Is this a localized incident or a statement about the crime in Orlando.

Huge statement, I would never let my children go to Wet n Wild. I know two people that went there and their locker was broken into and they described the crowd as completely unruly.

Orlando is not a safe city...

I could sit here a list tons of incedents but it would take me hours to tell you all the reasons to avoid this place. Just check out the crime stats through any google search. I think most would be surprised at the amount of violent crimes that take place in this area!

I let me three children go to the Junior Lifeguard program last summer at WNW. They were under constant supervision from the regular lifeguards and they had a blast. There weren't any incidents of violence at WNW last summer.

I know the recent shooting at WNW makes you think twice, but my experience with the summer program last year was very positive. I know the shooting had something to do with a big group of students coming from South Florida. But you should also know that throughout summer they have lots of these LARGE groups of people/students/tourists (lots of buses around WNW) coming in to WNW for the day. WNW gets VERY crowded - that was my only concern, but everything worked out okay as far as the camp last year.

My children also attended Sea World Summer Camp last summer, and they all said they prefered WNW summer camp over Sea World.

This could of happened anywhere... It can happen in Kalamazoo. Orlando and Tampa has their share of crimes, but it is one of the 2 major cities I would live in.

Ive got children and safety is a major concern, we use to live in chicago and went through the college program for disney and worked in numerous places in orlando. Their is a lot of crime but not any more than any other city or rural area. One thing I can say is the programs I went through was one of the greatest experience I ever had. I learned so much and made so much friends and we are under great supervision. I think they will be o.k

The crime in orlando has gotten bad but I wouldnt rule out sending him there because this is an isolated incident. The parks are safe this was just a freak thing.
