I thought this may have been part of Lake Mary from its location, but it’s part of Sanford. Just North of Lake Jessup. Looks pretty quiet. But it’s about 3 straight line miles from the Sanford airport. I was a little concerned about that.

That's a good area with some nice new-development homes, as well as older custom homes on larger lots. Myrtle Avenue is quiet because it's not a thoroughfare in that part of town. In terms of airport noise you should be free of take off/landing air traffic as they tend to utilize the west bound approach for landings along the HE Thomas Jr Parkway corridor and just north of that for takeoffs. If the wind is just right you might hear some engine noise while on the ground prior to take off, but don't think it's of a nuisance level.

If schools are important you will want to check their ratings, especially the lower levels.

Great point, and given their excellence it seems a good investment given the quality.

Thanks!

I've read that Lake Jessup is a sort of alligator paradise. Should that be of concern?

What you’ve heard is correct. No, it should not be a concern. Stay away from the shoreline and you will be fine. Worst case, you might see one or two sunbathing on occasion, during which time they pose absolutely no threat to you.

Hmm, how far do gators typically roam away from a waterline? A little concerned if I should eventually get a dog - which would be on a leash for walking of course, but what if the backyard were fenced in to allow for the dog to go out and do its business?

If your backyard backs into the lake, then watch your dog at all times. If it's not directly on the lake/shoreline, nothing to worry about. Gators are opportunistic predators, and are extremely lazy, and really will not go after prey if it isn't near the water. Too much work.

Comforting but still a little scary, I think.

Not at all. Alligators don't roam and stay within close proximity of the water so unless your home is waterfront it's not a valid concern. A properly fenced yard (with secure coverage at ground level) would make even a waterfront home safe for your dog off leash, if the dog is large enough to have no worries of predatory birds.
