I'm looking to move from Georgia to Central Florida, preferrably the Lakeland area, shortly. I'm looking for a 55+ active lifestyle community that allows a fenced in back yard. Any ideas where I can look or what I can check out?

Thanks.

They all pretty much have fence issues. A neighborhood like Cypresswood in Winter Haven might be a good option for you. It is an HOA and allows fences, with residents primarily 55+ and/or snowbirds.

There are some homes in the Highland Fairways 55+ neighborhood that are along the outside perimeter of the neighborhood. Those properties have fences along the back but they do not allow fences between your home and your neighbors. This allows the lawn service to freely mow and edge the property throughout. It is included in the HOA service. This is normal for all the retirement properties we look at during our search. We decided this was the best location for us as it has a very active community. They even have a large newsletter the residents puts out called the "Scottish Echo" that I found very informative. Good luck in your search.
