I am shopping for homeowners insurance and received a good quote from american keystone insurance, but I have never heard of them before. Has anyone ever heard of them? I can go with Tower Hill which I have received good recommendations about, but would save a few hundred dollars by going with american keystone. I am just afraid to go with american keystone and then a hurricane hits and they go bankrupt or fail to pay. Maybe it is just me being paranoid. Does anyone have any info about homeowners insurance in central florida especially american keystone? Thanks for your help.

All I know about American Keystone is that it is a resent addition to the state. This would worry me a little because they have no experience in a state that has the potential to have wide spreed state-wide damages. It was not around in 04 when all the hurricanes hit so it is hard to judge how this company would handle a large amount of claims at one time. Many experienced companies folded after 04-05 so new companies worry me a little bit. Tower Hill is more established and has a track record that you can research. If you have a newer home (02 or newer) and have a hip roof (4 sided roof) than you have a plethora of choices at lower rates. However, I wouldn't sacrifice a lower rate for future problems with a company that is inexperienced in our state but in this economy a few hundred dollars a year can make all the difference. Here is a helpful website the state put out: Compare Homeowner's Insurance Rates. I suggest looking into Royal Palm and Homewise. Let me know if you need more info.
