Hi! I wanted to see if I could get some help on moving to the Orlando area. We are coming from North Dallas and have only lived here a little over a year. My parents live in Cocoa and but they arent much help. Seeing how they dont have children anymore they arent dialed in to those areas. We have three kids and would like some feedback on family friendly neighborhoods and/or towns. We are looking for great schools, baseball & gymnastics facilities, safe, clean, fun, and overall tailored to raising a family. Might need to rent at first so we dont get stuck with a house if we dont like it there. I lived in Florida for about a year as a child and hated it! Im really hoping its changed alot since the mid 80's...yikes I guess I just dated myself. Anyhow, any ideas? Thanks!

Depending on why you hated it, would tell a lot as to if you would/wouldn't like it now. As a child, you probably didnt look for things such as low crime, good schools, good pay, etc... BUT, if you are looking for that now, especially in Orlando, I think you will be disappointed.

Default SE Orlando has....

...some suprizingly affordable homes in relatively new neighborhoods that give you access to main roads that will take you to the airport (OIA), the Florida Mall, and many major shopping/business hubs. I presently live in this area and I'm less than an hour from Cocoa - convinient for the cruise lines!

Try the Oviedo area, they have excellent schools and it will be a shorter drive when you go see your parents in Cocoa.

I have to be honest and say winter garden/windermere. I work and live In this area and we love it. We raise our 7 year old and are very happy with the schools.

I teach & coach basketball in Seminole County. Seminole County school grades have been straight A's since Florida started grading school districts. Lake Mary finished #4 in Money Magazines Best Places to Live. Winter Springs finished 31st.
