I just got laid off from my job and can't afford to live in my apt. anymore. I signed a lease with AIMCO in Sept. for one year. I am willing to give up my deposit and maybe a months rent, but does anyone have any advice for breaking the lease? The only argument I can think of is 1) that i got laid off from my job and can't afford to pay the rent (maybe they will settle?) 2) There is a mold problem in the building and lots of people have had problems with mold. Would hiring an attorney help?
Much thanks,
Trying to break lease

Anytime breaking a legal contract is involved, hiring an attorney will help and is highly recommended. If it were me I'd present my situation to the management and see what they have to say. If they aren't co-operative, then get yourself an attorney. Even if they are helpful and present you with some paperwork to break the lease, it'd be smart to have an attorney look them over.
